Humanity devolves back to Neanderthals in Plague – Like that’s a stretch

It’s time for the Frozen Virus in Plague Inc, the long dormant virus strain that must rebuild itself and send humanity back to the dark ages. At our current rate of progress it’s not actually that big of a stretch, but let’s focus on the game.

An 30,000 year old virus has been discovered in Russia and must be pieced back to together in order to infect humanity. It’s a pretty weak strain and won’t survive in warmer climates.

So, you have to start off in Russia, which is a new one for me since all my outbreaks are launched from India. Second, this relies almost exclusively on animals as a Transmission source.  Third, the Symptoms are related to bone structure such as stronger jaws and a change to the cranial structure – thus Neanderthal.

Pretty cool scenario actually as you have to go through the Abilities tree and repair all the DNA sequences so you can get Symptoms and the rest of Abilities. Without the repair you can’t get Drug Resistance or Heat Resistance which you’re going to need to survive.

My first attempt was 99% successful, but the Caribbean managed to isolate themselves and with all the shipping lanes and ports closed I couldn’t get them. I have no problem in getting Greenland since they are close to Russia and the disease is already comfortable in cold weather.

I used Insects, Birds and Livestock to transmit the disease and it spread quite rapidly. The red biohazard bubbles were popping up all over the place! I then repaired all 5 DNA segments then filled in both Drug Resistance options and all 3 Heat Resistance options. This caused the disease to spread through South America, Africa and Australia like wildfire. It’s also pulled in the Caribbean and Madagascar so they couldn’t hide this time around.

This got things rolling quite nicely and I had plenty of mutations going on at the same time. For the final Symptoms I filled in the right side of the tree to get Bone Dysplasia, Cranial Elephantitis, and Neanderthal Regression. You need to evolve this last one in order to push humanity over the edge and revert their evolutionary state.

It goes by pretty quick and if you move things along at a good pace, you’ll still have plenty of points and the Cure Progress will be minimal. I think I caught humanity off guard on this one because the cure was pretty low and I had a points left over for Immaturity and Aggression which really threw the cure for a loop.

Oh no, we’re devolving!

Too much staring at the iPad and watching crap TV will cause the same thing to happen
