Mad Cow Disease runs rampant in the town of Banished

I’m still recovering from my staggering and still  unexplained loss of food which has lead to much death from starvation and then to add insult to injury I became victim of mad cow disease. I was really excited to get enough stone and iron together to buy 3 cows and was even more excited when they multiplied into 7. I now had beef and leather – all good things. But nothing lasts forever and as you can see by the screenshot, a mysterious fog engulfed my pasture and killed the entire herd. If there’s a way to combat the disease I don’t know what it is. I doubt the Herbalist works on a bovine population.

So another setback for my people. But I will overcome. I’ve already replaced the cattle with sheep, so now we have wool for warm coats. I also have another pasture for chickens. Even with all this, as well as 2 more Fishing Docks, I can’t seem to get in front of the starvation. I suppose I could make a Town Hall and bring in a bunch of Nomads, but I think that will just make the food situation worse. I bought food from the Merchant, but it only lasted a couple of minutes. If only I had some damn seeds to plant some crops!

There have been some rather amusing moments though. If you look below you will see my 10 year old Brewer. How the hell did that happen?
I also have a citizen named Hell who happens to be a student.
I have 2 quarries and 2 iron mines working, yet with all the plight and blight, I don’t have enough people to manage them.
I have two completely full Stockpiles, yet the one next to the Woodcutter is empty and now we have no firewood. Come on people, move a couple of logs!
I just completed building a Market, we’ll see if that spreads out my resources a little better.
I’ve completely filled my Cemetery, not a good sign.

My little hamlet is on a downward spiral that’s for sure. Time will tell if I can turn this game around. Still, the game is amazingly fun and even if it does get burnt to the ground, I’ll just start over.

By the way, amazing soundtrack in this game!
