I DETEST Freemium Titles.

There are two new trends in iOS games that I can’t stand, Freemium titles and paid titles that require powerpacks, boosts or upgrades to complete (I guess a derivative of the Freemium title). I hate these kinds of games and refuse to even consider purchasing them.

First off is the new bait and switch game called the Freemium title. The game starts off by being free but in order to advance or even complete the game you have to make some sort of in-app purchase, sometimes several of them. ZombieFarm is a perfect example of a fun little game that has been ruined by a constant stream of nags and a near endless need to buy something inside the game. I would gladly have paid $1.99 for this game to be left alone to harvest crops and build my zombie army. But the need to keep buying brains and the deliberate changes made by the authors to slow the game down unless you did buy in game products made me delete it. The game should either be free or have a price, it shouldn’t be both.

It gets even worse with Freemium titles that actually charge you for the game then charge you even more for boosts and powerups. Need for Speed is an ugly example of this but Death Rally is a more shameful example. You buy the game and then need to buy Booster packs within the game. Oh hell no! I will never buy a game like that and don’t recommend anyone else does either. This is a ripoff and no one should support a developer that does this. I can see small companies trying to make some extra money but this is pure crap. Make a decent game, give it a fair price and we’ll buy it. Knock off the dirty tricks of rigging the game to where we need to pay more money just to play something we already bought. I hate the fact that Apple has allowed these kinds of apps into the App Store.

People need to stay away from these games and this trend needs to come to an end. I don’t support this model and I will never play or buy these types of game. Good riddance to them!
